SCONES

Ingredients:

2 Flour, all purpose
1 tbs Sugar
1 tbs Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 cup Butter
1/3 cup Milk
2 Eggs

Hardware:
Cast Iron Skillet
Floured Board
Knife
Roller and cutter (plastic glass)
Sift
Stove or Open Fire
Turner

Serves 4.

This hot bread can be baked on a flat surface over an open fire. Scones should be lightly browned on the outside, but thoroughly cooked on the inside. Sift flour. Then sift again with sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut butter into dry ingredients. Beat the milk and eggs together. Stir into dry ingredients and blend thoroughly. Turn out on a floured board and knead half a dozen times. Roll dough out to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into 2 inch rounds. Preheat frying pan but do not grease. Place scones on pan surface and heat for ten minutes. Turn and heat for another ten minutes.
