Water makes up most of the Earth’s surface. Even though it does, drinkable water is not as common. On National Water Sampling month Troop 401, sponsored by CH2M HILL, went water sampling. Troop 401 went to many locations; most of them were around San Antonio, Texas.

Troop 401 went out and collected many samples from lakes and rivers. Many kids helped the community out by finding the pH, Turbidity, Dissolved Oxygen, water temperature, and air temperature of these locations. The kids used the Water Sampling kits provided by CH2M HILL. These kids had a fun time working and are being helped in the process. They are earning service hours for their next rank advancement.

This helps the community and the kids. Thanks to CH2M HILL and Troop 401, Texas has a small estimate of where the good water is. We can also try and change the way we pollute the water to make our water safer and cleaner.
